Matt Edible & The Obtuse Angels + Pfaff (Holland)

Another great gig at The Sesh last night.
Thanks to all that played, helped or simply just came down and supported.

To wrap up the month of November, we've got an extra special line up next TUESDAY with the funktastic PEARLS CAB RIDE headlining, featuring special guest, the original party starter and electro daddy, ENDOFLEVELBADDIE.
(It feels like Xmas has come early for us !!).

Also on the bill, we have THE NEW COAST, an excellent Indie Pop Duo from London) and Hull's very own Indie prodigy, 16 year old YASMIN COE and her full band.

Before all that though, there's still some quality gigs to get to this week in the city.

Why not pop along to the legendary Adelphi tmw night and catch one of Hull's finest singer songwriters, Matt Edible of The Holy Orders with his 'new side project' band, The Obtuse Angels, and special guest from Holland, Pfaff.
It's £5 entry and you'll get the chance to hear some of Matt's new recordings, which are quite simply sublime.

As well as the above tmw, there's also another great gig at the home of The Sesh, The Polar Bear, with the excellent Serial Chiller supporting Canadian Post Punks Beliefs and local newcomers Growss.

https://www.facebook.com/serialchillerband/
Having impressed us and others over the last 12 months, with gigs at Sesh and Adelphi, along with BBC Introducing showcase slots, as well as smashing their set at this year's Humber Street Sesh on the Strummerville Stage, it's time for the boys to headline their first Sesh at The Polar Bear.

If you doused Pavement and Parquet Courts in paint stripper, peel away the remains, you’d find something a little like these guys. With short catchy riffs and cutting lyrics, Serial Chiller have created their own brand of slacker punk.

10.15pm FOSSA
https://www.facebook.com/FOSSAMUSIC/
Four piece from York, with Hull's Amber Warren at the front departing from her acoustic aesthetic that we'd grown to love in the city, to an atmospheric blend of reverberating guitars and vocals. Having played on the Dead Bod stage at this year's HSS festival, the band have gone on to play some great support slots across the north of England, and most recently supported the high flying King No One on their recent UK Tour.

9.30pm CHURCH OF NON BELIEVERS

Pain, Death, Anguish, Loss, Madness, Beauty, Beats .... We welcome back the 80s infused 4 piece, Church Of Non Believers, to The Sesh at Polar Bear to celebrate the imminent release of their latest EP 'Electro Shock Misery'. Word has it, they'll be giving a few lucky punters a FREE EP post gig.

In the last year Holly and Will have toured the lengths and breadths of Ireland, New Zealand, U.S., England and Holland, and have recently teamed up with Tom Skelly, Dan Sneath and Dave Tomlinson, to create a dream line up.

10.15pm THE HAPPY ENDINGS

Easily one of the most loved bands in the city, we're so excited to have the Happy Endings back at Sesh, following a summer that saw them grace Glastonbury amongst numerous other festivals across the country. With sisters Emma and Rachel Fee on acoustic guitars, sharing lead vocals and sweet harmonies, along with brother Adam Fee on Guitar and Mike Jessop on Percussion, the Happy Endings are a real joy to behold live.

Having taught herself to play guitar, she discovered her true voice at a local acoustic night; since then she has been performing her songs at every public opportunity. Fiona has played a number of prestigious festivals including Humber Street Sesh, Cornucopia and Beverley Folk Festival, and is now gigging regularly around the north of England.

11pm DIVIDIUM
https://www.facebook.com/DividiumBand/
Dividium are a five piece melodic technical metal band from Hull, UK and have grown into a unique band, captivating audiences with their live shows and challenging the listener with every song. They have embraced influences such as Periphery, Dream Theater, Protest the Hero and Soilwork to create their debut album ‘The Scourge’. This was followed up by 'In Terrifying Colour in 2016. We're pretty excited to have them headline The Sesh. It's been far too long.

10.15pm YEARS YOUNG
https://www.facebook.com/yearsyoungmusic/
Years Young are an Alternative Rock Quartet from Lincolnshire.
Taking influences from bands such as Biffy Clyro, Mallory Knox and Don Broco, Years Young have a live show that is powerful, polished and by no means timid.
Their debut EP ‘Hiraeth’ was released in January to critical acclaim. Kerrang! Magazine gave the debut release a 4K rating, claiming the release ‘boasts anthems and ambition by the ton’.

9.30pm THE ANTIQUITY
https://www.facebook.com/TheAntiquityUK/
The Antiquity, one of the region's most esteemed rock bands yet to of played Sesh. Sadly, having not seen them, it was always against them when it came to booking HSS, so here's their chance to impress. We've been told great things about them, so get yourselves in early to support.

11pm LET MAN LOOSE
https://www.facebook.com/letmanloose/
From the ashes of Felony, with a new name, a new band member and most importantly, all new songs, comes Let Man Loose, a four-piece rock band from Hull. Featuring Marc Ainley, Jamie Rothery, Sam Howell and Daniel Griffin.

Taking inspiration from the Californian desert rock scene that spawned bands like Kyuss (and later, Queens of the Stone Age), Let Man Loose combine duelling fuzz guitars, hard-on bass and pounding drums with melodic vocals.

10.15pm KYMBERLEY KENNEDY
https://www.facebook.com/KymberleyKennedy/
A Sesh debut for this three piece who graced the BBC Introducing Stage at Humber Street Sesh this year.
Compared to Portishead and Massive Attack, the bands influences range from Stevie Wonder to Justin Bieber (blame the guitarist). Long term compatriots of Grinny Grandad too.
'That's Talent , right there' - Trevor Nelson
'One cracking slive of b-boy funk' - Craig Charles

So this is it ..... TONIGHT
Our final weekly Sesh at the Polar Bear
before our big day on Hull Marina this Saturday.

And it's a class line up too.
NOT TO BE MISSED

THE HOWL & THE HUM (York)
DEATH OF POP (London)
BDRMM (Hull)

11pm THE HOWL & THE HUM
https://www.facebook.com/TheHowlandTheHum/
one of our favourite performers at The Sesh over the past year, and playing the Deadbod Stage at the weekend, the York four piece have amassed serious radio and spotify plays since we last saw them, 300,000 plays on Spotify for Godmanchester Chinese Bridge. They're a bit special.

10.15pm THE DEATH OF POP
https://www.facebook.com/TheDeathOfPop/
A London-based quartet, whose shimmering music is self described as ‘janglegaze’, a mixture of the chiming jangle-pop of The Smiths or the C-86 bands, and the hypnotic swirl of shoegaze.

Their music sees the marriage of ethereal guitars, sun-kissed vocals, and lilting melody lines that wouldn’t be out of place on the most nonchalant Mac DeMarco record. We're excited to have these Londoner's make their Polar Bear debut

9.30pm BDRMM
https://www.facebook.com/smellybdrmm/
From bedroom to stage in what feels like an instant, BDRMM are rapidly injecting a much-needed burst of summer freshness into Hull music, sounding like the perfect cocktail of indie-groovers Homeshake and infectious room-fillers Jaws. Having already played alongside the likes of Her's, Trudy & the Romance, FEHM & Horsey, their music moves at a dreamy pace, but BDRMM’s reputation is growing at a rate that’s both alarming and satisfying.

Influences include The Doors, King Crimson, early Alice Cooper, Beatles, and Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd.

They've already released a 4 track EP with Warren Records, played on BBC Introducing Humberside and are now currently working with Colin Lloyd Tucker of The The, in which Colin is set to produce, mix and master their new album (The Forbidden Froot) alongside engineer Kenny Jones, who's recording credits include The Smiths, Oasis & Nine Below Zero.

10.15pm CARNIVAL CLUB
http://www.theseshhull.co.uk/artist/carnival-club/
Manchester based four piece, Carnival Club make their Polar Bear debut, young, exciting, and straight from the summer of love, they're a great blend of psychedelic rock and Sabbath esque valhalla.

9.30pm BAD CHERRIES
http://www.humberstreetsesh.co.uk/artist/bad-cherries/
Bad Cherries have hit the ground running in the Hull music scene, grabbing attention and fans with their unique harmonies and toe-tapping melodies. Couple Sam and Jamie, perform original acoustic songs with a twang and a hook, compelling you to jump in and sing along.

Taking inspiration from Wanda Jackson and Elvis Presley, Sam commands centre stage, with her strong vocals full of character and passion and a sense of style that looks like she could have stepped straight out of the 1950s.

POST WAR GLAMOUR GIRLS (Leeds) 10.15pm
http://www.theseshhull.co.uk/artist/post-war-glamour-girls/
Long term favourites on Leeds music scene, we're truly honoured to have them over to play in Hull this week. With a new album 'Swan Songs' out via Hide & Seek Records, this date in Hull is part of a thirteen date UK tour.

"Post War Glamour Girls are four screaming charmers formed in late 2010. Heavy hitting and dry witted, they create songs which swell up and boil over into brooding, thumping masterpieces reminiscent of Tom Waits, Grinderman and ‘Moon and Antarctica-era’ Modest Mouse. Wearing their hearts firmly on their sleeves, PWGG live shows are a gripping affair. The sets are laced with reckless abundance as songs tinker into a clatter and clatter into a roar before collapsing in a proud heap on top of the audience." – Skiddle.com

MUZI SWAKS 9.45pm
http://www.theseshhull.co.uk/artist/muzi-swaks/
With a severe lack of R&B representation in the region, our money is on Muzi becoming a household name in the city. For fans of Tory Lanez, Trey Songz, Kranium, Future, and Drake. Easily one of the coolest dudes we've come across at Sesh, we're truly excited about Muzi's debut performance with us.

CAMEO BROOKS 9.15pm
http://www.theseshhull.co.uk/artist/cameo-brooks/
One of the most exciting acts to emerge from the outstanding Warren Records team in Hull. Still only 18, Cameo is producing tracks well beyond his years. Clever word play with old skool beats and funky rhythms make him one to watch in 2017.

Plus our Aftershow Party with the return of our Resident DJ Matty Burr who's back from Black Delta Movement's European Tour.
From 12pm - 2am. Huge thanks to La Bete Bloom's John Copley for holding the fort over the last couple of weeks.
